STORE ASSOCIATES

DEPARTMENTS: Lighting/Electrical, Paint
STARTING PAY: $17.50/hour – Based on experience

General Summary:

The Store Associate will assist in the receiving, stocking, pricing of all merchandise in the department that they are assisgned to and help maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall store cleanliness.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a positive representation of Goodman Building Supply;
  • Proactively assist customers in solving problems by sharing your merchandise knowledge and project expertise to recommend merchandise based on customers’ needs and wants;
  • Greet customers in assigned departments, and storewide, as soon as you encounter them and provide needed advice or information to help with their home repair and improvement needs.
  • Ensure signage is current and correct throughout your department;
  • Assist customers with simple complaints/conversn; get a manager involved with problems/concerns as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisement so you can tell customers about special offers and special sales.
  • Handle special orders for all non-stock items. It always take two associates to say “No.” Never tell a customer no without checking with a floor manager, assistant manager or store manager.
  • Maintain a professional mannerism in appearance and actions.
  • Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
  • Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
    1. High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
    2. Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of Electrical/Lighting or Paint products.
    3. At least 1-year work experience in an Electrical/Lighing or Paint Sales Associate role.
    4. Valid California Driver’s LicensePhysical, Mental and Environmental Requirements of Job:
    1. Ability to operate and control power tools safely.
    2. Ability to courteously and professionally interact with our Customers.
    3. Ability to understand and communicate written and spoken information and ideas.
    4. Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
    5. Ability to lift, carry and maneuver goods that may weigh 50 pounds, utilizing additional personnel and mechanical assistance as required.
    6. Ability to encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
    7. Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to a job.
    8. Ability to manage work time efficiently.

    CASHIER ASSOCIATE

    DEPARTMENTS: Point of Sale
    STARTING PAY: $15.50/hour – Based on experience

    General Summary:

    The Cashier Associate is responsible for delivering excellent customer service with every interaction, involving sales and/or return of merchandise, while maintaining a clean and organized work station.

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a professional mannerism in appearance and actions to provide a positive representation of Goodman Building Supply
    • Greet customers entering the store and approaching the check-out counter with a friendly, positive customer-oriented demeanor;
    • Thank customers for shopping at Goodman Building Supply when they are leaving the store.
    • Use of a point-of-sale cash register to collect payments, provide receipts, and refund money for items returned by customers;
    • Inform customers about current sales, promotions and exchanges;
    • Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
    • Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
    • Assist in pricing, marking and bagging of all purchased merchandise.
    • Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
    • Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
    • Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean at all times. Face and dust front end.
    • Responsible for balancing of register drawer.

      REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
      1. Basic math and computer skills required.
      2. Cash handling experience a plus.Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements of Job:
      1. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
      2. Ability to courteously and professionally interact with our Customers.
      3. Ability to understand and communicate written and spoken information and ideas.
      4. Ability to lift, carry and maneuver goods (up to 50lbs.), utilizing additional personnel and mechanical assistance as required.
      6. Ability to encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
